Life is made up of small compromises , we’re constantly being asked to make small concessions on our time, our attention or our energy.
Sometimes people will ask us to be flexible on our boundaries, to ‘meet them half way’. Sometimes people will ask us to make small compromises to our deeply held values. To act without integrity, to do something we know is unkind or dishonest. To temporarily disregard our self-respect.
Flexibility is important. Compromise is important. They are vital to forming long-term connections and human relationships.
But when it comes to your core values, to the things you deeply hold as a core part of the person you are, there are no small compromises.
Today’s prompt:
Where are you being asked to make compromises to your values?
How will compromising a core value affect your sense of self?
Happy journaling!
