A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do
– Bob Dylan
I find myself thinking and writing more and more about freedom. Not the loud, dramatic kind, but the quiet, day-to-day kind. The ability to choose how I spend my time, what projects I work on, and where I work from. That kind of flexibility feels more and more like success.
When I was younger, success looked like a title, a salary, a ladder to climb. But now? I think about how many mornings I can spend at home, how many bedtimes I don’t miss. I think about the hours I lose to work and the moments I miss with my daughter while she’s still little.
Freedom has become a goal, a compass. Not just financial freedom, but freedom of time, of choice, of presence. I journal about it often, to keep the vision close, and to stay honest about what really matters to me now.
Today’s prompt:
What does a successful day look like to you, not in someone else’s eyes, but in your own?
If you could do anything with your days, how would you fill them? What’s one step that brings you closer to that life?
Happy journaling!
